Word Pray spelled out, two Bibles, and a cup of tea

Did you know that there are Bible verses about prayer? Prayer is a vital part of Christian life. Beginning your prayer journey with God is easy. Just commit to pray. If you need motivation to jumpstart your prayer life, look no further! Below are six Bible verses that can help motivate you to pray.

Bible Verses About Prayer

Matthew 21:22

And whatever you ask in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith.

These words are directly from Jesus. If we have faith, we can know that God will answer our prayers.

Philippians 4:6

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

When we bring our requests to God, we are not bothering Him. He wants us to rely on Him in faith. As believers, we are not called to worry but to trust in God’s power and wisdom for our circumstances. Knowing this truth can definitely motivate us to pray!

Romans 8:26

Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Have you ever felt like you didn’t know what to pray? The Bible says that we can rely on the Holy Spirit to help us during these times. The Holy Spirit intercedes for us so that our request goes before God even if we’re at a loss for words. Hallelujah!

Bible Verses that Tell Us God Hears Our Prayers

2 Chronicles 7:14

If my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.

Did you know that your prayers could have a huge impact in your community? Or even your nation? Prayer is powerful, and it can be used to ask God for healing and prosperity for our family, friends, neighbors, and even our country!

1 John 5:14-15

And this is the confidence that we have toward Him, that if we ask anything according to His will He hears us. And if we know that He hears us in whatever we ask, we know that we have the requests that we have asked of Him.

Whenever we pray according to God’s will, God will answer our prayers. How do we learn the will of God for our lives or for others? We ask Him in prayer or read the Bible!  This Bible verse pretty much guarantees that our prayers will be heard as long as we pray for God’s will to be done. Yay!

Jeremiah 33:3

Call to me and I will answer you, and will tell you great and hidden things that you have not known.

This is one of my favorite verses and one I return to often. God desires for us to connect with Him in prayer and this verse reminds me of the open invitation I have with my creator to meet Him in prayer. It also reminds me to expect God to not just meet me in prayer but that He desires to respond to my prayers.
