God, Use Me to be a Blessing
One of my favorite books of the Bible is the book of Ruth. I love reading about two strong women of faith who were able to salvage their family legacy with God’s help. I also love reading about the way Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz show genuine care for one another.
Ruth’s dedication to Naomi, her mother-in-law, is inspiring (Ruth 1:14-18)! Her faith in God led her to leave her homeland and family so that she could take care of Naomi. Boaz responds to Ruth’s faith with generosity (Ruth 2:8-12). He was so moved by Ruth’s dedication to Naomi, his relative, that he helped to provide for them. Lastly, Naomi was encouraged by Boaz’s generosity and concerned about Ruth’s future. This led her to instruct her Ruth on how to ask Boaz to redeem their family (Ruth 3:1-5).
Perhaps the most striking detail about Ruth, Naomi, and Boaz’s story is that God never directly speaks to them to guide their decisions. Yet, God does speak through their actions. The way they encourage each other reminds me of graceful dancers, each one responding in perfect timing with the other. A truth that I’ve come to realize through reading the book of Ruth is that God can often speak through His people. When we choose to genuinely care about our brothers and sisters in Christ, we can also become like graceful dancers, performing to create a vision of God’s grace and providence.
As we pray this week, let’s pray that God would use us to be a blessing to our fellow believers in Christ.
Prayer of the Week: Asking God to Use Me to be a Blessing to Others
Dear Father, I thank you for everything you have given me and for the opportunity to serve you. Use me to be a blessing to someone this week. Allow your love and grace to speak through me. Enliven me through your Spirit to the needs of others. I want to serve you, Lord, and I pray for a divine appointment this week. Please use me to be a blessing through words of encouragement, acts of friendship, or wise financial support. Like Naomi, Ruth, and Boaz, I want to inspire my fellow believers in their faith.
Father, I thank you now for how you will use me to be a blessing to someone and the testimony to come. In Jesus name I pray, amen!
