Father, Help Me to Create an Eternal Legacy

Every believer has an opportunity to inspire other believers in their faith and create an eternal legacy. This may sound like something out of a high fantasy novel, but it’s true. We all have an opportunity to contribute to His eternal plan for salvation while encourage others to do the same. 

In fact, the Bible is filled with stories of ordinary people who do extraordinary things for God that further His good plans for us. One of the most famous examples of this in the Bible is King David. In 1 Samuel 17, the Bible tells the story of David defeating a giant named Goliath. This battle reminded the Israelite soldiers, who were fearful of Goliath, that God can bring them victory against their enemies if they trust in Him.

Later, in 2 Samuel 21, we learn that, as David got older, he became too weary for battle (v.15). Yet, the Philistines were still defeated. They were defeated because the next generation of warriors, inspired by David’s example as king, continued the work of protecting Israel (v. 16-22). David’s life shows us that, as we pursue our calling for God, we can encourage others to also step out in faith to accomplish great things for Him.

God Can Use Us, Too!

Everyday, we have opportunities to share the gospel and inspire others in their faith. Like David, we can be an illustration of what God can do when we are submitted to Him. In this way, we can testify about God’s greatness to our family, friends, and community. We can also play a role in God’s eternal plan for salvation for others, creating an eternal legacy that will withstand time itself.

As we pray this week, let’s ask God to use us like David to inspire others to great acts of faith. Let’s also ask Him to help us create an eternal legacy!

Prayer of the Week: Asking God to Help Me Create an Eternal Legacy

Father God, I thank you that you work through your people to accomplish great things. Lord, I pray that you would use me to impact my family, my community, and even the world. Help me to see opportunities to serve you and share the gospel. Show me how I can inspire others in their faith. Make me sensitive to the call you have on my life. Help me to create an eternal legacy through my actions here on earth.

Lord, I thank you for the wisdom, strength, and grace that you have provided for me. You have already given me everything I need to help me create an eternal legacy. Lord, I desire to honor you with my life. Help me to be a blessing and accomplish the divine purpose you have for me. Show me how to stand strong for you as a witness to your love and grace. Give me the wisdom to know how I can impact this generation and the next for you. Lord, use me, just like David, to be an illustration to others of what you can do when we choose to submit to you. 

Father, I thank you for how you will use me in your eternal plan to bring salvation to others and encourage them in their faith. In Jesus name, amen!
