Jesus’s Resurrection Changed Everything: An Easter Devotional

“What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? He who did not spare His own son, but gave Him up for us all—how will He not also, along with Him, graciously give us all things? Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.”

Romans 8:31-34

Learning Something New

Learning something new can be a jarring experience. This might sound silly, but it’s true. When you learn something new, it causes you to change your worldview, your thought process, and even your behavior. This kind of radical transformation can be hard for those of us who are used to the safety that our traditions and established truths create in our tidy corner of the world.

It’s hard to accept a new truth when our old familiar ideas feel as comfortable as a pair of well worn pajamas. Could you imagine learning something earth shattering after years of comfort and familiarity? Learning something that could challenge your view on fundamental ideas like life and death? Or even the history of the universe itself?

Jesus’s Resurrection Changed Everything

Well, when Jesus rose from the grave, He changed everything. Through Jesus’s death and resurrection, we were granted eternal life. We also received a restored relationship with God the Father, freedom from sin, a sense of purpose. Most importantly, we now have the ability to commune directly with God. The resurrection transformed our understanding of life itself.

Romans 8:32 proclaims, “He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?” This verse shows us that Jesus’s death on the cross has removed every barrier to a loving relationship with God and eternal life. We now have a new hope and future through Jesus!

Key Takeaways:

  • Through Christ, we have eternal life and a restored relationship with God
  • Easter is a celebration of Jesus’s radical act of love and redemption
  • Jesus’s resurrection proves He conquered sin and death
